The “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës from Albania (UAMD) and the Balkan History Association from Romania (BHA), recognizing the benefits to their respective institutions from the establishment of this international collaboration, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of developing an academic and educational cooperation and of promoting mutual understanding between the two institutions.
The purpose of the cooperation between UAMD and BHA is as follows:
a) To exchange ideas between the faculty staff and BHA members;
b) To understand the historical, cultural, political, economic, and social issues environment of Balkans;
c) To facilitate the formation of a community of scholars specialized in the study of the region, as well as to engage in the formation and professional development of their younger peers;
d) To create a platform for cooperation between researchers and the general audience, designed to facilitate a better collaboration between the states in the area;
e) To participate in different higher education and research projects financed by EU or other funds.
To achieve these goals, UAMD and BHA will, insofar as the means of each allow:
a) Organize conferences, symposiums, lectures and other meetings on different research issues. The information related to these, as well as any research output generated on these occasions are advertised and published primarily through Hiperboreea Journal;
b) Promote organizational exchanges by inviting own members as well as scholars of the partner institutions or organizations to participate in a variety of research activities;
c) Carry out joint research programs in order to contribute to a better understanding of the communities in the area;
d) Promoting the Balkans as a region intrinsically linked to the larger European cultural, political, economic and social space;
e) Exchange information pertaining to developments in research at each organization.
Memorandum was signed by the Rector of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, Prof. Dr. Kseanela Sotirofski and the President of the Balkan History Association, Dr. Mihai Dragnea on December 07, 2018.
