The Balkan History Association is delighted to announce new members: Alin Cristian Scridon and Ercan Karakoç.
Alin Cristian Scridon is a priest and lecturer at the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, West University of Timisoara. He has a PhD in Theology (“Ovidius” University of Constanta) and another one in History (West University of Timisoara). He authored books, studies and papers in various fields of research: Pastoral Theology, Modern Ecclesiastical Theology, the History of the Romanian Orthodoxy, Biblical Exegesis etc.
Ercan Karakoç graduated from the History Department at Bogaziçi (Bosporus) University. He continued his studies with a Master’s in National Security Strategy at the Gebze Institute of Technology (then Gebze Technical University), and completed his Ph.D. at Marmara University. Following his MA degree, he worked as an intern at the most prominent Turkish advocacy institution, the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA) based in Washington, D.C. After his doctoral studies finished, he won Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Scholarship allowing him to teach Turkish History and Culture at Chatham University for the 2010-2011 academic year in Pittsburgh. Currently, he has been an associate professor of history at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Yildiz Technical University. His works are mainly on Modern Turkish History including Ottoman and Turkish Foreign Policy, and Turkish Politics.
Dorina Onica is the head of the Ethnography Department and Scientific researcher at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History of Moldova; lecturer at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Art in Chișinău. She has a PhD in ethnology, and two Master Degree, one in Globalization-History, Policies and European Cultures, another one in International Relations. She worked as scientific researcher at the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Academy of Science of Moldova. Her works and research interests are in Ethnology, Ethnography, Mythology, Social Anthropology, and Immaterial Cultural Heritage. She is author of one monograph (Peisajul cultural rural dintre Prut și Nistru. Aspecte etnogeografice. București: Editura Etnologică, 2017), chapters in collective volumes, and over 21 Scholarly and Refereed Journal articles.
